Screening Scale

There are several difficulties in the diagnosis of post-partum depression. Click on the buttons below to know them:

Patients and caregivers lack of knowledge about psychiatric disorders and their treatments.

The symptoms are common in the state of postpartum and postnatal depression (eg, fatigue, insomnia, changes in appetite).

The patient does not reveal his feelings for fear of being classified as mentally ill or being incompetent as a mother.

Caregivers minimize the symptoms or are not accessible.

Several scales have been used for the screening of postpartum depression, including the most widely used: Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EDPS). There are other less used as Pospartum Depression Screening Scale (PDSS), Hopkins Symptom Check List (SCL-25) and Self-Report Questinnaire 20 (SRQ-20).
